A little about me

A little bit of background...

Hi! My name is Stacey and I'm the person behind the wheel at Stacey Wallington Ceramics. I am a self taught potter and I began my love story with clay in February 2018. Prior to that I had never made anything with clay, not even at school. I remember scrolling through pictures of ceramics on Pinterest on so many occasions thinking "Wouldn't it be cool to make my own ceramics" and the next thing I know, I am signing up to a pottery experience day with a local potter in Sheffield. That's really where my clay addiction began and my life has never been the same since.  After that, I went on and signed up to a college course at Hillsborough College in Sheffield and because I loved throwing on the wheel so much, my pottery teacher allowed me to do just that. One night a week wasn't enough so in addition to college, I rented some studio space at Blue Elephant Pottery in Sheffield and this is where things started to progress for me as I was able to make more work. On top of my full-time job, I would make pottery 5-6 nights a week. One year later in August 2019 I was lucky enough to be gifted my own wheel and kiln and from that moment on I have been making my ceramics from my home studio in Derbyshire.

My style...

When someone asks me "What is your style?" the truthful answer is, "I have no idea". I love creating pieces that people will truly enjoy using, something that is a bit different and that you can't find on the high street. I love experimenting with glazes and seeing how they interact and I really love using lots of different colours. Despite my love of bold colours, I also enjoy making understated pieces too, celebrating the natural beauty of naked clay. I mainly focus on making functional pieces for your home including mugs, cups, bowls, vases and more. My work is always changing and evolving as I learn more and try different techniques but I try and create something for everyone, for all tastes.
